Sat2Twitter – Tweet from far away

by Jon Thompson on March 11, 2009

Sat2TwitterNick over at Arktisma.com just dropped a comment on an earlier post about a new service he just launched called Sat2Twitter.  You can now Twitter using your SPOT Messenger from anywhere in the world and they soon hope to add functionality for Thuraya, Iridium, and other devices.

Many moons ago I sent out a request to a group of developers asking for help with an idea I had – Twitter for Thuraya.  While a great bunch of suggestions came back the idea was eventually subsumed by a larger entity and all but forgotten.  I came up with a workaround but never had a chance to test it.  Now, Sat2Twitter offers what might be a solution for folks in the field albeit for a very limited SPOT audience.  I hope they roll out that Thuraya component as quick as they can!

You gotta love a company with the motto, “Creating products and services for people who wander.  The sea, the mountains, the world.”
