Open Street Map v. Google Maps – Baghdad

Wow.  Check out the difference.  Which map would you use?

Well done to the OSM guys… this is a practical demonstration of how the web should be working for all of us.

I’ve been using OSM for a few months now and love it. I’ve been paying back by updating the Kabul map as best I can. Now if only I could figure out how to use it on my iPhone.

Its worth pointing out that with tools available from the OpenStreetMap web site what you can do with their data.

Not only can you get printed maps like the one above, but you can also load the data into a GPS navigation device and have a moving map showing your current location, and also use it for navigation and routing in a similar (though less sophisticated way) to TomTom, etc.

check the maps of Lahore,Islamabad,Karachi in Pakistan, OpenStreetMaps rock and others fails.
